Page’s professional life is intertwined with the widespread acceptance of paramedics in the early 1970s. Page was a Battalion Chief for Los Angeles County and oversaw the introduction of paramedics there in 1969. He continued to inspire and facilitate the profession’s growth in the following decades.

The ALS units, staffed by paramedics, are being downgraded as part of strategy to address chronic staffing shortages and ballooning overtime costs.
